Is your school accredited?

Gateway Virtual Academy, LLC. is a private school accredited through Advanced offering digital learning, worldwide.

GVA was awarded accreditation in June, 2019. Although accreditation is not mandated, GVA made the decision to become accredited through a rigorous quality assurance process and achieved distinction on our first review, Alhamdulilah.

Will my child get a diploma upon completion?

Yes, upon graduation students will receive an accredited american diploma, recognized by American schools.

How much is tuition?

Elementary Live classes:

Does my child have to take all of the classes?

Individual Courses may be purchased (see our fees page). Alternative courses should be taken at another institution, if not through GVA. In order for your child to be promoted, you will be required to submit a record of the course completion.

A minimum of 8 credits must be studied and completed with GVA to attain a GVA High School Diploma. The remaining 16 credits are required to be transferred from an accredited institute to be accepted and a diploma awarded. 

Social Studies is required for grades 7 and up through GVA or another institute in order to receive a diploma.


What is the digital text fee?
The digital text fee is a paid at the beginning of the year upon enrollment of US$200 per student. This fee covers the cost of the student’s digital text/curriculum and all accounts that will be provided by the school. This fee is non-refundable after two weeks of payment.
I cannot pay the digital text fee right now - can I still register?

Yes, you can still register your child(ren). However, you will need to request an extension through the tuition department, at:

What courses do you offer?
We offer four(4) core subjects which all students are required to take (through GVA or elsewhere): Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science. We also offer Islamiyyah courses and self-paced elective courses in foreign languages, arts, p.e. computer science and more.
What Islamic courses do you offer?

We currently offer the following Islamiyyah courses: Iqra al-Qu’ran (Qaa’idah Nooraniyah), Tilawat, Hifz (Qur’an memorization) and Arabic Language (3 levels).

Are elective courses included in the tuition?
  • There is no additional cost during the school year for elective courses. However, there is a cost for elective courses taken during the summer (see our fees page).
  • One Islamiyyah course is included in your child’s tuition. There is a $100 monthly fee for additional Islamiyah courses.
Is there an age limit to register my child?

Students ar enrolled based on their previous academic reports or through placement testing.

There is no age limit and we do not conduct entry interviews, however, we expect students to be able to have basic knowledge of the computer, communicate with their teacher and peers. We also encourage parents to sit with their child until he/she is fully able to navigate on his/her own during the live sessions with the teacher.

Do I need to purchase books and materials?

All coursework is completed online in each student’s digital account. You do have the option to print, scan and upload work to be graded. Otherwise work is done on their online portal. However, no physical books will be mailed to you.

You will be required to purchase additional material for projects and class assignments. A full list can be found in the School Supply list.

What are the school days and hours?

Live classes are held Mon – Fri, between 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.CST. Islamiyyah courses are held throughout the school week between 11:45 a.m. – 2:40 p.m. CST, depending on the course.

I am unable to get a transcript/report card or my child was previously homeschooled - what can be done?

If your child was previously homeschooled, then we will need to be administered a placement test for Math and Language Arts. If you have more questions about this, please send an email to our admissions department:

I would like to wait a while before I register - can I register late?

Gateway Virtual Academy has an enrollment cap on the number of students that will be enrolled per class. The early registration period begins in April through June. Late registration is subject to an increase in the fee (see our fees page). Since we have to cater to our returning students and their siblings, new students will be selected for enrollment based on availability. We encourage you not to wait until the last minute to register!


Enrollment is closed on the second week of each quarter. Enrollment is accepted for Quarter 4.

What documents do I need to provide?

You will need a scanned copy of the student’s proof of birth and a transcript or report card from the previous school year. If your child was home schooled or you are unable to provide the required academic documents he/she will be required to take a placement test.

What are the requirements for registering my child?

Gateway Virtual Academy shall not limit admission to students on the basis of intellectual ability, measures of achievement or aptitude, athletic ability, disability, race, creed, national origin, religion, or ancestry.

However, all new students must be fluent in the English language, read at or just below the grade level they are enrolling in and possess basic computer skills.

What is a Learning Coach?
Learning Coaches are usually the student’s parent or another responsible adult who are dedicated to making sure their child receives a quality education. He/She will be will be the primary contact for all correspondence related to the student’s academic performance, important updates and emergencies.
Does the Learning Coach need to be present?
The Learning Coach should be present or in close proximity during class time for students enrolled in elementary school (Grades 2-5).

The Learning Coach may be required to sit with the student during the first few weeks of school while the student gets acclimated with the virtual learning experience and programs.

What does the Learning Coach have to do?
The Learning Coach is responsible for ensuring their student is on track with assignments and coursework as well as communicating with their teachers throughout the school year. Learning Coaches play an active role, especially in the early grades.

Are you registered in the state of Missouri ?

Missouri does not regulate private schools and has set no requirements for “private” schools other than licensing. We are licensed with the state and are accredited through Advanced/Cognia.  To learn more contact the Missouri Department of Education at: 573-751-4212 .

Do I need to register as a home schooling parent in my state?

No, we are a private school. Therefore you will not need to register your child.
